That’s a great idea. All you need to do is find a venue with available badminton courts at a time you are free, and let us know. We can set a date to run a taster induction session for a few weeks ahead of time so you can spread the word. We have a poster that you can put up around the area or post onto facebook pages for the local community. We will direct people to the App so they can sign up for the session.
From there it will slowly snowball until it is a thriving club night!
There is the opportunity to have some training from Pickleball England on leadership of a pickleball club. It is a half day course and is sometimes offered at Deeside Leisure Centre in Flintshire. Current club leaders will come down and run the taster induction sessions, so you do not have to worry. We will provide the paddles for the taster induction sessions, and the first few weeks and months of the club starting. Balls are provided on-going for new clubs. The club will come under the insurance of PickleFit.Club
What will be involved as a Club Leader?
- Promoting the new club as much as possible. Spreading the word to your friends, neighbours, work colleagues etc
- Posting on social media including facebook community groups, and putting up leaflets in shops and leisure centres etc
- Attending the majority of the club nights, and if you can’t make it finding a deputy to step in
- Take the equipment necessary for the club
- Providing a warm welcome to all members and a good-bye at the end of the session
- Introduce new members to others of the same ability level
- Protect beginners and suggest match combinations to encourage play at similar ability levels
- If needed, create a safe space for beginners to practice shots
- Model the code of conduct behaviours
- Actively promote a culture of having fun and congratulate great shots by others
- Check members off the attendance list
- Proactively resolve any issues on the night
- Provide feedback to PickleFit.Club if there are any issues identified by yourself or members
- If you feel comfortable, lead some taster induction events
As a thank you for being a Club Leader your attendance fee on Club nights is waived.
